[001 Read] Rainy days are good for reading...

I just want to start off and mention how hard it is to start reading again after you've taken a hiatus. I went on vacation for two weeks, and ever since then I've had the hardest time being able to sit still and just read...however today changed that. Since it rained today pretty much non stop, and since I had nothing to do at work, I read. :)

While I was reading, I started to think about my favorite books....so my five favorite books of ALL TIME would have to be: (these are in no particular order...)

1.
A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry - It was recommended by Nisha. At first I was a tad bit hesitant just because... It starts off slow, but once it picks up, it's SO HARD TO PUT DOWN. I have never come across a book which has infused so much magic, drama, and richness of life. I remember last summer, I was completely and utterly so obsessed with finishing this book that I would wake up early before work JUST so I could read. Anyways, if you guy's haven't read it, I highly recommend you read it. (I'm almost 101% sure Nisha does too!)

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini - LOVE THIS BOOK. I read the Kite Runner in high school and liked that one as well, just not as much as this book. ALSO I GOT TO MEET THE AUTHOR AND HE SIGNED MY BOOK, so that automatically makes me cool. (haha) Also I have to make a side note - the other day I met someone who 'FAKE READ' 'The Kite Runner' - needless to say I might have stared him down ... sorry! Back to this book, I love it so, so, so, so, SO much because it focuses on women and their struggles. It's heart wrenching. "A society has no chance if it's women are uneducated' Khaled Hosseini, True dat brotha. So once again, if you haven't read this book.... THEN READ IT. ILL EVEN LEND YOU MY SIGNED, SUPER COOL COPY. Only if you PROMISE to return it! :)

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving - I literally cried my eyes out reading this, that's how good I thought it was... (or that's how good my high school self thought it was) Hollywood has also come out with a movie, its ages old, but I recommend the book. It almost reminds me of 'Charlie St. Cloud' ...

4. The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom - Each soul has a story to tell, a lesson to share, and secret to revel. I particularly like this one because everyone he meet's leaves a lasting impression on him. Albom's other books are quite good too...well his olders one anyways..I haven't gotten around to reading 'For One More Day' or 'Have A Little Faith'.

5. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky - Okay, okay before you start wondering why, I'll tell you. I read this book back in the day, actually I think it was on a plane ride to India. Anyways, the suspense is INTENSE. The characters are so well defined, this book is one of those 'movie in your head' books. If you guys read/liked "The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo' series, then I would highly recommend this book!
